On Our Radar - Drones, Med-Tech & Golf
Last week’s travels took me to Tampa, FL.
I seem to end up in Florida about a half dozen times a year or so, but this was my first time in Tampa.
Pretty nice city, and the skyline is really impressive at night from The Tampa Club!
Tampa skyline just GLEAMING from The Tampa Club.
In addition to our real estate-focused host, I spent some time with some interesting founders.
I spoke with a remote/home health care company that has incorporated AI and a suite of remote care devices into success.
Another group is competing against Top Golf for golf-plus luxury and convenience.
That plus a field trip to our host’s new course made for a pretty golf-y couple of days.
Ready to hit the links!
And I’ll be having active conversations with those folks over the next few months.
So that’s some of what could be coming down the pike.
Meanwhile, we’ve been talking to CClear, and got our hands on their latest crowd market activity update.
Here are three companies currently making waves with their crowd offerings:
Everybody has been spazzing out about the big drones strafing New Jersey and elsewhere over the past several days. Is it a secret government operation?
Visitors??
Who knows.
Maybe it’s just CClear’s #5 pick for last week, LIFT Aircraft.* This company makes manned drones, and has sold over $2.7 million worth as of its last fiscal year. So far, they’ve also raised over $14 million in growth capital to date.
Unfortunately, it looks like LIFT just took their offering offline. But considering that the company has now run three Reg CF offerings as well as a Reg A+ round, maybe they’ll be back in the crowdfunding mix before long.
Next up is a twofer.. ANOTHER drone company, but this one also has a play on farming, another hot industry right now. CClear’s #11 pick for last week, Hylio, makes drone systems that help farmers apply crop treatments to problem areas. The company claims this helps farmers boost crop yields, lower costs, and reduce environmental impacts.
This is another solidly post-revenue company, reporting nearly $8.3 million in sales last year. This is Hylio’s second crowdfunding effort, with a combined ~$2.4 million raised, and a 329% valuation boost between rounds. You can find their offering on the StartEngine crowdfunding platform here.
Last but by no means least, let’s pivot to med-tech with CClear’s #1 pick for the week, Pirouette Medical. Pirouette is seeking to revolutionize how emergency and other non-hospital injections (think epinephrine for severe allergic reactions, or naloxone for overdoses) are given with a small, round, easy-to-use device it calls quicpush.
Pirouette is pre-revenue, but has raised $8.05 million as of this writing, out of an $8.2 million goal. It also owns 22 patents, and has received support from Y Combinator, major VC firms including Safar Partners and Liquid 2 Ventures, and the NIH and National Institute on Drug Abuse. Their raise page is on Wefunder, located here.
‘Til Next Time!
